Paolo Vagaggini is considered to be one of the world experts on Sangiovese and has been named as one of the top ten oenologists in Italy. He was born in Siena in 1955 and has a thirty year career behind him. A consultant for estates in all of Italy, and also with close contacts in Bordeaux, he has chosen to focus on the production areas for Tuscany’s great red wines: Montalcino, Montepulciano and Chianti Classico. He actually works with a third of Montalcino’s wineries but still manages to be very close to us throughout the year. - See more at: http://www.ilpalazzone.com/come-and-see-us/our-te...

In 2012, Decanter Magazine published an article on the most notable Italian winemaking consultants who have been flying under the radar. As a feature in the article, Paolo Vagaggini was praised for his creation of “an impressive number of some of the best hand-crafted Brunellos”. He was also noted for his mastery of Sangiovese and Sangiovese-based wine. Paolo Vagaggini and his wife, Bernadetta, established Amantis winery relatively recently and are quickly being noticed as a force with which to be reckoned in the Montecucco region of Tuscany. The entire line of Amantis wines are some of the best values in Italian wine right now. For more information about Amantis, visit their website.
